Minnesota Vikings lose in home opener

Vikings fans shouldn’t be worried about what happened on Sunday.

This past Sunday at US Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Vikings debuted their 2023-2024 season against the Tampa Bay buccaneers.

Even though the game didn’t go the Vikings way, Viking’s fans shouldn’t give up on their team yet. Many fans went into this game thinking it would be an easy and warm up game. The Vikings ended up losing 17-20 though. This was a must win game because the next four games are all against really talented teams.

Not everything was bad for the Vikings though.  The Vikings hired Brian Flores this past off-season. He was seen as one of the best defensive coordinators in the league, and it showed. The Viking’s defense allowed 242 offensive yards in the game. Although the defense didn’t have any turnovers, it was still undeniably better than last season.

The Viking’s offense also wasn’t the greatest but still had some upsides. Kirk Cousins had a decent game throwing for 344 yards and two touchdowns but at the same time had two fumbles and an interception.

The Vikings run game was non-existent, only rushing for 34 yards. Justin Jefferson still showed that he is one of the top receivers in the league. Jefferson had 134 yards in the first half but ended the game with 150, and rookie wide receiver, Jordan Addison, finished with 4 receptions, 61 yards and a touchdown.

Viking’s fans have to forget about last week and focus on this week which should be even tougher. The Vikings face off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night football.
