The Sartell boys’ basketball team has had four games in the last few weeks. Their first three games have been against Rocori, St. Cloud Tech, and Willmar, Rogers and their current last game that was played against Fergus Falls. The team has won the three games they’ve played but lost their last two games against Rogers. Their record is now 3-2. They have another game on the 19th of December, and it’s home.
During the away game at Rocori, the team scored a total of 70 points with the Roccori Spartans only scoring 56 total points. This was the first game for the boys. There were five, three-pointers from Carter Stutsman, Jalen Schumann, George Durrwachter, Isaac Bergstrom, and Andrew Tavale. Sartell was down in the first few points with the Spartans at 14 points while Sabres were at 11. Jalen Schumann hit a three and tied us up. The Sabres finally pulled away when George Durrwachter hit another three-pointer when the score was 16-16. After that, Andrew Tavale came for another three after the Sabres made a steal.
The first home game was against St. Cloud Tech. Sartell came out fast scoring the first few points. Sartell quickly pulled away in the score with 13 minutes still on the clock and already a score lead of 10-3. Bennett Bommersbach scored a three early in the game with Tech’s defense nowhere to be seen. Not long after, Maddox Lewis came out with a three as well making the score sit at 24-12. Right before the first half ended Bennett Bommersbach shot a three. During the second half, Maddox Lewis came out straight away with another three-pointer and so did George Durrwachter. The score ended with a big lead with Sartell Sabres at 78 points to Tech with at 48 points.
The next home game was against Willmar. Maddox Lewis started the game with two quick threes and then a steal from Andrew Nelson followed by a layup. Willmar came back with the score 8-11, the Sabres were still up but not with a huge lead. Then Isaac Bergstrom came out with another three. Brayden Simones made a fast break and made a layup. After a failed attempt at a dunk from Willmar, Andrew Tavale took the ball back and passed it to Bennett Bommersbach to make a three-pointer again. With another fast break, Levi Freiler grabbed the ball from Willmar and passed to Isaac Bergstrom for a layup. At the end of the first half, Brayden Simones made another three-pointer. Making the score at the end of the first half 35-14. The score at the of the game ended up being 76- 43 with another win for the Sartell Sabres.
The next game was played against Rogers. The game started with a foul on the Sabres with Rogers at the free-throw line. Not long after another foul was placed on Rogers, and Maddox Lewis was on the line for the Sabres. This game was a back-and-forth the whole time with steals and a close score during the first few minutes with Sabres being up 6-5 with 14 minutes still on the clock. Brayden Simones made his way in to get a layup bringing the Sabres to the lead with points. Both sides of the defense were working overtime the whole game. Carter Stutsman hit a three-pointer, closing in on the score. Another foul and Andrew Nelson was on the free-throw line for the Sabres with two shots. Another two fouls back-to-back happened right after one another on the Rogers and the other for the Sabres. At the end of the first half, the Sabres were down 25-32 with 9 fouls for each team. During the beginning of the second half, Carter Stutsman shot another three which now brought the score to 33-38. Right after Bennett Bommersbach made another three. Rogers slowly started to pull away from the Sabres with an end score of 56-72 for the first loss of the Sabres.

The game against Fergus Falls is going to be a good one to watch. They’re an all-around good team and the players and coaches are excited to see how the game turns out.
