On October 1st, 2024 there was a massive fire in Conyers, Georgia.

This fire started at the BioLab, KIK Consumer Products and caused a chemical reaction around 5am. This reaction sent a massive cloud containing chlorine high into the air.

Residents in Rockdale county were recommended to shelter in place from 7pm to 7am from Tuesday- Friday October 4th. This fire began on the roof of the facility. When the fire was completely out and taken care of, crews were dousing the building with water to control any possible hot spots as debris is moved.

After, a nearby malfunctioning sprinkler came in contact with it which caused the reaction. This caused water to react with a water-reactive chemical causing a massive plume to cover the county. More than 90,000 residents in the county east of Atlanta were told to keep sheltering in place. Residents that live in the northern part of the county were told to evacuate.

The fire was brought under control around 4pm, 11 hours after the fire started.
