Food Court
Hello everyone!
Welcome back to yet another episode of “The good, the bad, and the delicious”. This week, we will be diving back into the prestigious world of food reviewing, started last year by Harper Atkinson, Kaden Garcia, and Rachel Eisenschenk. As Seniors™ at Sartell High School, we have found our passion in educating the youth of Sartell about the most cost-effective food options available and trying new food so you don’t have to. This week, we will be starting off by reviewing some of the different food options available to students at The Crossroads Center Mall.
Extreme Pita – Sriracha Falafel – Roasted red peppers, tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, tabbouleh, hummus & sriracha mayo ($7.39 falafel, combo $2.48)
Extreme Pita was by far the most expensive option of the three, as well as taking the longest, and being the hardest to finish. As someone who has never been to Extreme Pita before, I was vastly underprepared for what I was about to encounter. There was a long list of menu items that I had almost never heard of, and too many options to accurately make a decision. I ended up choosing the Sriracha Falafel, and after about 5 minutes or so, I finally ended up getting my food. The food can best be described as “meh.” I generally enjoy spicy food, but I found this too spicy to accurately enjoy and ended up leaving much of it uneaten. I also found that parts of my Pita were relatively cold and the other parts were hot. Overall, it was a weird experience, and I don’t know how likely I will be to return to Extreme Pita.
Sbarro– NY style slice of pizza, supreme toppings (pepperoni, sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and onions) with two breadsticks and a regular size drink (combo $8.55)
I got the supreme pizza combo at Sbarro in Crossroads Mall. There aren’t a lot of people that haven’t had pizza at the mall, so this was not my first rodeo at Sbarro. As the middle most expensive meal of the three we tried at the mall, this was not a bad deal. I got two breadsticks, a large slice of pizza, and a regular-sized drink for just under $9.00! The food was hot and the service was fast and friendly, so I would say an overall great experience. To anyone that hasn’t had Sbarro at Crossroads yet, I would highly recommend.
Great Teriyaki– Two sides (rice and noodles) and bourbon chicken with a regular drink (combo $8.29)
I got Great Teriyaki’s bourbon chicken platter to go and honestly it was an out-of-body experience. If you have ever been offered a free sample here I would grab one ASAP. This chicken is, in all honesty, the best thing at the mall. The two sides were fried rice and noodles with the bourbon chicken in a smaller compartment in the container. For the money, you get a lot of food and you have some options in regards to size and type of food. This portion size, flavor, and drink make the $8.29 so, so worth it.
