North Korea and US schedule summit
Trump will meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in Singapore next month in an attempt to talk peace between the countries, Trump announced Thursday.
The conference between the two countries has been in the work since March, which will be the first meeting between a sitting president and a North Korean leader in history.
Singapore is the setting for the summit due to its location playing an outsized role in how the talks may be viewed by outside spectators. The country also seems neutral in the eyes of both governments. The talks come after months of tension between the US and North Korea over their nuclear program.
Three prisoners from the US in North Korea were released during the secretary of state’s recent visit to Pyongyang, the event finalizing the plans for a meeting between the two leaders.
