Olympic committee sued for sex trafficking
Last week, four US Olympic taekwondo athletes filed a joint lawsuit against the Olympic Committee in Colorado for engaging in sex trafficking by forcing minors to work alongside sexual predators.
One of the attorneys representing the victims said this in a statement to the Indy Star, “The USOC knowingly trafficked these girls to obtain medals and money, time and again.”
The USOC has faced much criticism for its lack of action against sexual predators in their employment, with Larry Nasser and the sexual assault of hundreds of athletes in his care.
Attorney Rex Sharp said this of the lawsuit, “Much like a pimp who trafficks women for money, the USOC was trafficking its athletes to known sexual abusers for money and medals.”
The lawsuit alleges that the committee openly knew of the sexual harassment, yet didn’t punish or take any action for the victims.
