Feral dogs kill six children in India
Feral dogs have killed six children in Northern India, with two-dozen more children being injured in attacks this past month, petrifying locals and forcing many to keep their kids inside.
The children range in age 5-12 years old and were killed in the town of Sitapur. Attacks typically occurred when children left to get mangoes or ventured to their outdoor toilets.
Schools in India have found a steep drop in attendance, with students needing constant attention when venturing anywhere outside the home.
India has millions of stray dogs that scavenge for food primarily in the neighborhoods of villages. After a local slaughterhouse was closed, many villagers believe the dogs have become increasingly aggressive due to the loss of a major food source.
