Record breaking weather slams U.S.
Record-breaking blizzards hit the Midwest, dropping several inches of snow, while floods in New York and southwest wild fires raged last weekend, all to the disdain of the residents and travelers who suffered through them alike.
The U.S. drought monitor stated that the region of central and southern U.S. has an “exceptional” drought. This is causing widespread wildfires and makes the chance of future fires seem nearly certain. Extreme concern is centered across western Oklahoma for April 17 according to the National Weather Service.
In contrast, New York has experienced rapid flooding after several days of downpour like rain. Videos on various social media sites have shown the extent of the flooding, with several subway stations being capsized with water. Floods became so precarious that lines had to be rerouted, causing citywide delays.
A record breaking April snowstorm struck the Midwest, dumping more than a foot in several areas. Road closures and hazardous driving conditions led to 100’s of accidents. The fierce blizzard even temporarily shut down MSP-International airport, delaying and cancelling several flights from around the world.
