This past week was Sartell’s homecoming. Homecoming is an annual tradition where our school welcomes back alumni, with events happening each day, dress up days, and a dance at the end of the week there is never a dull moment! In case you missed any of the festivities here is a recap of the week!
Coronation:

Starting off the week we had our homecoming royalty coronation. The previous week students had voted for a couple from each grade, and 7 couples from the senior class to be a part of homecoming court. At the coronation, which took place on monday evening, each couple was crowned and the senior king and queen were announced. The king and queen where voted for by the student body and this years King and Queen were Graham Huse and Annabelle Trombley! Besides the announcement of king and queen, each senior couple performed a disco themed dance. The teacher royalty voted Riley Quinn and Maddox Lewis as the winners of the dance contest. To match the homecoming theme the king and queen were announced through a glowing disco ball. Each candidate held a disco ball and the one whose lit up was the queen!
Powderpuff:
The next exciting event is Powderpuff which took place during Carnival on Wednesday. This years powderpuff game was played in a flag football style which is a change from previous years. Once again, the senior girls (class of 2026) took the win for the second year in a row. Last year the class of 2026 had broken norms and beat the seniors which gave them confidence that they carried into this years game. The game was close but the seniors stayed ahead and the final scored was 33-19. Powderpuff is coached by football players and this years senior coaches were Brady Thompson, Matthew Schreiner, Peyton Allen, and Talon Sigler. The coaches led practices and helped out on the field. Junior coaches were Johnny Manion, Will Hemmesch, Will Gaida, Anders Larson, and Jackson Knott.

Carnival:

Also on Wednesday, students had Carnival! The main attraction at Carnival is usually Powderpuff, but there are still lots of other events going on. Many local businesses like Scooters, Sartell Vibe, and Mr Twisty’s had booths for their businesses giving out free goodies and coupons! Sports teams also had tables with games, there was a dunk a teacher tank, and obstacles courses brought by the army. Whether you were playing games or watching Powderpuff, carnival had something for everyone!
Pep-fest:
Friday is the most busy day of homecoming week in my opinion. Pep-fest is special because everyone is apart of it, every student goes to the gym for an hour and we have our homecoming pep-fest. One of my favorite parts of pep-fest is watching all of the fall sports team dances. This years dance winner was the girls soccer team, they danced to a mashup of songs from the minions series and even dressed up as minions and other characters from the movie. Besides the dances the senior royalty played blindfolded dodgeball, students who volunteered played tug of war, and the teachers also had a disco themed dance/ music video. Theres a lot that happens during the one hour of pep-fest but it ends up having everyone excited for the weekend to come!

FNL :
Friday night football games are always busy and involve everyone in the community. Its not just about the football game, it starts with the homecoming parade which involves small businesses, teams, and churches all throughout Sartell. Lots of people line the streets to watch people they know in the parade. There is also a pre-game tailgate which is hosted by the Sartell activities and raise money for sports teams! They have hamburgers, hotdogs, and chips! The actual game itself started at 7 p.m., its the most attended football game of the year and the energy in the student section and stands is unmatched. This year, like most years, we played Sauk Rapids and we won! The score was 21-7 and it was by far the best feeling to win this year because we got to beat our rival, who usually beats us. Every touch down or good play was so electric, we had confetti poppers, fun signs, and lots of cheers to do!

Dance:
On the final day of homecoming we had our dance, it was hosted in the high school gym and was a great success. Although there were some complaint’s about the DJ it was still a blast. Getting ready before hand, taking pictures, and making TikToks is one of the best parts of it all. The dance was busy, music was blasting, and everyone was having a great time jumping and dancing. One thing that sets our dance aside from others is for homecoming we don’t get dressed up in nice dresses or suit, we were the homecoming T-shirt that is also the ticket to the dance. This years T-shirt had a disco them, but seniors where jerseys. Not sure why jerseys, but its school tradition!
Now that Homecoming is behind us, we can look ahead to the rest of the year and do our best to keep the good energy flowing to make 2025-2026 a unforgettable year!
