Families gathered at Sartell High School on Saturday, April 12th, for the annual Funfest Charity Event — a beloved tradition organized by the school’s National Honor Society (NHS) and Student Council.

Each year, the two student groups rise to the occasion, organizing a fun-filled event complete with snacks, games, activities, and a silent auction. These groups dedicate months of planning to every detail — from selecting prizes to designing the event layout — all to make it a memorable experience. To pull it off, the Student Council and NHS split into sub-committees, giving students more chances to collaborate and connect across groups.

The sub-committees involved in organizing Funfest included Food, Advertising, Silent Auction, and Games. Each team was responsible for completing specific tasks by set deadlines, helping the event run smoothly and efficiently.

There are many activities at Funfest that can be done for just 25 cents, making it an affordable experience for everyone!

In addition to being a local tradition, Funfest is also part of a statewide service effort. Each year, the executive boards of the Minnesota Association of Student Councils (MASC) and the Minnesota Association of Honor Societies (MAHS) partner with a charitable organization and encourage schools across the state to host service projects in support of it.

Each school has the freedom to design its own project, but all proceeds go to the same statewide cause. This year, MASC and MAHS partnered with United Way — and the Sartell High School Student Council and NHS knew Funfest was the perfect fit.

Funfest continues to be a meaningful tradition for NHS and Student Council — bringing the community together for a great cause.

Mini Golf was one of the limited activities that costed more than 25 cents to participate in, but it was an opportunity to do something as a family or friend group!

The event’s biggest attractions included the silent auction baskets, which each NHS and Student Council student helped collect donations for; Mini Golf, a favorite for friends and families; and the wide variety of games and activities, which attendees could play for just 25 cents each!

Attending this event is a highlight for many in the community. It offers something for everyone in the family — and it’s all for a good cause!

Many students from NHS and Student Council participated in interviews during the event. They shared which group they were part of, which game or activity they helped run, and what their favorite part of Funfest was.

Overall, Funfest was once again a great success. It brought together students, families, and community members for a morning of fun — all while supporting a meaningful cause. Thanks to the planning and dedication of NHS and Student Council, the event ran smoothly and left a positive impact. It’s a tradition that continues to grow each year, and many are already looking forward to what next year will bring.
