For Lauren Roberts, her way to fame began when she went live on social media to read a piece of writing that she had done in a college class to her followers. From there, she received comments about how she should write a book, and the idea of Powerless was born.

Even knowing that it was a risk, Lauren decided to leave college and pursue her passion for writing. At just 18 years old, Lauren started writing the first book of the Powerless Trilogy: Powerless.
Without the support of an editor or a publishing house, she was backed by her fan base on social media. In an interview with “The Honey POP,” Lauren talks about how she loved to record herself doing random activities when she was younger, and this likely led to the start of her TikTok page. She originally posted her first video as a joke, not thinking anything would happen; but to her surprise, people started following her. She acquired over 10,000 followers in two days.
After a year of writing, at 19 years old, Lauren Roberts self-published Powerless in January of 2023, by uploading the story to Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing and Barnes & Noble Press. Eventually, after a large blowup by her fans, the book was noticed and picked up by Simon & Schuster (a major American publishing house).

Powerless was on the New York bestseller list for 34 weeks, and over 1 million copies were sold worldwide.
On April 11, 2024, the novella Powerful was published. This novella focuses on a character from the first book and their story. It was on the New York bestseller list for nine weeks. The second book in the Powerless trilogy, Reckless, was released July 2, 2024.

The third and final installment of the trilogy is Fearless, which was released April 8, 2025.
