On Tuesday, April 8th, the St. Cloud school district residents voted in favor of upgrading the Apollo High School.
The two questions in the election were to add a secure entrance and better their educational spaces, along with an athletic facility on Apollo’s school grounds. Both ballot measures were approved for $65 million in total.
The Apollo High School was made in 1970, and designed with large lecture halls to small, tiny, dark classrooms. The purpose for this was so students could come and go; it created a lot a flexibility. The only problem was this limited supervision and instructional capacity.
Attempts to upgrade the school before have been made but have been delayed to get in motion. In 2015, the people in the St. Cloud district voted against the district’s request for $167 million to renovate Apollo, build a new Tech High School, and add on secure entrances at all schools.
