Sabrina Carpenter, age 25, has recently become one of the most popular pop stars across the globe. She was an actress for Disney, and has now decided to continue her career in music. On August 23, 2024, Carpenter released her most popular album yet, Short n’ Sweet. What many people don’t know is that this is actually her sixth studio album. Even though she’s “five feet to be exact,” Carpenter has managed to rise high in the music industry recently. Today I am going to listen to the album, review it, explain the meanings of some of the songs, and give my opinions on some tracks.

Track 1: Taste

‘Taste” is the first track off of this pop hit album. It has such a catchy beat, and Carpenter sings about how unforgettable she is. This is one of her most top streamed songs off of this album. It is nearing 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Track 2: Please Please Please

Track 2 is another one of her most popular songs off of this album. “Please Please Please” started off as her second single off of this album, and it hit the charts super quickly. Currently this song is at roughly 1.3 billion streams on Spotify. This pop song has really catchy synths, and lyrics that are fun to sing along to.

Track 3: Good Graces

“Good Graces” is definitely one of her most upbeat tracks off of this album. This song is about Carpenter getting out of a relationship that she was disrespected in. She is glad to be out of it, and sings this song with confidence.

Track 4: Sharpest Tool

This is one of her most tame beats off of the album, but yet the lyrics are so strong. Miscommunication is the main concept that is sung about, and Carpenter mentions how crazily her relationship switched up.

Track 5: Coincidence

Track 5 goes through the repeated cycle of a love triangle that Sabrina was in. She mentions how “surprised” she is when finding out that her ex was back with the girl he said that she would not have to worry about. This song has a fun guitar playing in the background, and is one that is fun to follow along with because of its ironic lyrics.

Track 6: Bed Chem

This synth pop song has a really catchy beat and lyrics. She sings about the chemistry and connection between both her and the person that she is in a relationship with.

Track 7: Espresso

Track 7 is her most popular song off of this album. It started off as a hit single, and now has over 2 billion streams on Spotify. This was another one of her songs to quickly hit the top of the charts, and it made a significant impact on her career.

Track 8: Dumb & Poetic

“Dumb & Poetic” is one of the tracks off of this album that expresses many raw emotions. She discusses the words and actions that were done by her ex lover, deep diving into topics of manipulation and dillusion.

Track 9: Slim Pickins

This song is another one that is super fun to sing along to. It has a fun guitar strum in the back, and has lyrics about not ever being able to find the right guy for her.

Track 10: Juno

“Juno” is one of my favorite songs off of this album. It has such a fun beat to follow along with, and it just adds to the list of reasons why this album is pop perfection.

Track 11: Lie To Girls

In this track, Carpenter sings about all of the difficulties that some girls will go through to be with the person that they want to be with. She mentions all of the obstacles she will take just to be with the man that she wants.

Track 12: Don’t Smile

In my opinion, this song is a perfect way to end the album. Its subtle beat and lyrics that say, “Don’t smile cause it happened baby cry because it’s over,” spark the feeling of something coming to an end.
