This last week, the girls’ golf team kickstarted their spring season! This year comes with many new changes and the girls are excited for the next 2 and 1/2 months. The weather has been very sporadic, causing the schedule to be all over the place before getting into a somewhat consistent practice schedule. There are many goals for this season and to learn more about the team keep reading!

Last year the girls’ golf team had a great year! Varsity won CLC conference champs for the first time in school history, as well as broke the school record for overall low team score. JV also had a consistent season and placed well at every meet. A huge change from last year will be forming a consistent varsity lineup. This will be a challenging task for head coach, Scherer, because 4 of the 6 varsity players from last year graduated. Luckily, many of this years seniors have varsity experience. Another change from last year is the addition of a school simulator! This new addition will help the team prepare for the first meets indoors, unlike previous year, and is a great advantage for the teams success.
Golf season is a busy and exciting time of the year. This year the girls’ team will be missing lots of school as they travel to courses all across the state. There will be 3 overnight meets: 1 at The Classic, and 2 at Park Rapids.
Last year the team had the opportunity to golf at an invite in Brainerd, at the well known course, The Classic at Maddens, and has gotten an invite again this year. The other 2 overnights are both at section course, Headwaters, in Park Rapids. Park Rapids is over 2 hours away making it quite the trip. Other event golfers are looking forward too is team bonding. There will be many team dinners, a end of season best ball scramble, and a team hot yoga class!
