Sartell High School gets a new golf simulator

The Sartell boys’ and girls’ golf teams started practice yesterday and were able to use the new golf simulator that was installed in a shed close to the SHS athletic complex.

The boys’ & girls’ golf teams are faced with the challenge of finding practice space during the late winter and early spring months. The ground is frozen at the course still and spring weather can be unpredictable. Before the simulator, the teams would hit foam balls in the gym which isn’t really realistic or just cancel practice.

When asked about his first impressions of the new golf simulator, SHS sophomore Ezra Link shared, “It was very good! I liked that you could hit golf balls and just keep on hitting them. You don’t have to go find the balls or set it back up. It’s unlimited and doesn’t cost money.”

Link added that it helps to improve your game “because you can do it more often than going to a driving range and paying the fee individually.”

The Sartell Activities Office introduced a plan to provide a cutting edge golf simulator and practice space to benefit student athletes. The new space can be used year round and is home to an advanced golf simulator bay and a practice bay to the side. There is the ability to play different courses in different conditions around the world. This project was funded by sponsors and donations from local businesses and families.
