The Quarantine Diaries: Day 16

Here+are+some+blobs+of+color+that+I+drew+to+brighten+up+your+quarantine.

Jordan Wenshau

Here are some blobs of color that I drew to brighten up your quarantine.

This is it. This is the final installment of the Quarantine Diaries. So welcome, for the last time.

I have learned so much during this crazy time. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things like just going for a drive and not knowing where you’re going. I have also begun to realize how my dogs felt cooped up in the house all day when everyone was at work and school.

I’ve tried new things and I’ve gotten creative with my time. Most importantly though, I have realized that I do not need a bunch of friends to be happy because I have my family. They are the best friends I could ask for, and I am sure glad that I was quarantined with them.

I’ve learned new things about myself, each of my siblings, and my parents through this whole process. I’m not saying I am a fan of COVID-19, but I am very thankful for this quarantine. 🙂

These here are two of my favorite flavors of bubbly water.

Welcome welcome. This is the Quarantine Diaries.

It is day 15 and today I realized that quarantine has totally changed me. Take sparkling water for an example. I used to hate that stuff, like hatred with a fiery passion. I didn’t understand why someone would carbonate water and not add sugar. It was disgusting. I couldn’t even drink it if it were the last source of water on earth, until the earth turned on its axis or maybe I’ve stumbled into an alternate reality.

Anyways, I gave it a try, and I don’t know why I did this, but I am sure glad I did because yes, I love carbonated water. I never thought I’d see the day. My mom just said that it means I’m growing up. Ha! Ya right. It must be the alternate reality thing.

So, the moral of the story is that you should not be afraid to try new things. Even if you have tried something and not liked it before, you might appreciate it more if you give it another chance. So surprise yourself today. Try something you thought you didn’t like. If you still don’t like it, that’s totally fine but at least you tried. Have fun, be adventurous. 🙂

Even my cat is getting sick of me in quarantine.

Hello and welcome back to the Quarantine Diaries.

Today I have a quiz for you. It is to determine what type of person you have become in quarantine. There are six types: the Mom, the Tiktokker, the Rule Breaker, the Dog, the Zombie, and the Germaphobe. I’m not quite sure which type I am. I’m probably the Mom or the Dog, but I guess I will have to take the quiz to find out, and so will you!

Good luck, and have fun! 🙂 Click here to play!

Hello and welcome back to the Quarantine Diaries.

I am finally seeing trees turning green and that makes me so so happy because summer is almost upon us. There are just two more weeks left of online school now so we are on the countdown! I wish that everything would open up in time for summer, but we all know that it won’t happen.

So this summer, we’ll all have to make up our own fun. Instead of Valley Fair and baseball games, we can paint rocks and have bonfires with our family members. I know that this summer will be full of new opportunities, and I for one, cannot wait. Today I wanted to do something creative though, so I wrote a short story. I had to include these words: Bloom, Crash, Bright, Sweet, Echo, Flow. Enjoy 🙂

The dog crashed through the opening door into the sunshine and blue skies. Senses aflame, he took in all of the sounds, smells, and sights around him. The sweet summer air tickled his nostrils and the distant flow of the river danced in his ears. The bright sunshine welcomed him like a warm hug. He began to run through a field of fresh-bloomed flowers, their scent washing over him as the birds sang their cheery song, an echo of one another.

The Quarantine Diaries: Day 12

Here%27s+me+going+to+school+in+my+pajamas.+It+is+AWESOME.

Jordan Wenshau

Here's me going to school in my pajamas. It is AWESOME.

Hello fellow quarantiners! Welcome back!

It’s another day of the Quarantine Diaries. Today, I realized how much has changed since the beginning of social distancing. There are a lot of things that were not socially acceptable five weeks ago that are totally normal now.

For example, I go to school every day in my pajamas. Also, I can take breaks from learning to go play with my pets. I can have my breakfast and coffee during class or I can wear the same pair of pants for three days in a row. I don’t even have to groom my eyebrows. They get pretty wild.

I’ve also noticed that I spend a lot more time with my family, which is awesome! Every night, after we eat dinner together, we all sit in the living room and watch The Office or just talk and hang out all night. Not everything about quarantine is bad.

If you haven’t already, go enjoy your family because before you know it, you won’t be living at home anymore. You will miss it. You have a chance right now that we probably will never get again so make good use of it. 🙂

Jordan Wenshau

I forgot to take pictures of me and my siblings when we were at the park so here's the basketball we played with.

Howdy! Welcome back to another adventure in quarantine, I’m Jordan Wenshau, and I’ll be your host on this fine day.

Today started like every other day in quarantine so far: coffee and eggs, online school, then boredom until about one o’clock when I checked the weather. The temp was nearing 60º and the UV index was at six. It was tanning time. So raced up onto the roof, yes you read that correctly, and I basked in the glorious sunshine for about an hour.

Later, after my siblings and I had finished our dinner, we headed out on our bikes for an evening ride. We ended up at the park playing basketball and sandman until the sun set. I ended my day with some TikTok and drawing my heart out.

I also discovered a website called Brainden. It is full of brain teasers, riddles, and optical illusions. Check it out when you get bored. Overall I’d say that today was a great day, and I hope yours was too! 🙂

Jordan Wenshau

After I finally stopped laughing at my own jokes, I played with my cat Louis.

Knock knock. Who’s there? Woo. Woo who? Woo hoo is right!

Welcome back to another installment of the Quarantine Diaries! As you can probably tell, I’ve become quite the dad joke connoisseur. Would you like to hear some more? Who am I kidding, of course you would! And if not, I’m sorry to say that you’ve come to the wrong place for entertainment. Anyway. Here’s a list of my 10 best dad jokes:

  1. Knock knock. Who’s there? Cow says. Cow says who? No silly, a cow says moo!
  2. What did the farmer say when he lost his tractor? Where’s my tractor!?
  3. What did Tennessee? The same thing that Arkansas.
  4. Did you hear about the kidnapping at school? It’s fine, he woke up.
  5. Why did the man fall down the well? Because he couldn’t see that well.
  6. Sundays are always a little sad, but the day before is a sadder day.
  7. I lost my job at the bank on my first day. A woman asked me to check her balance, so I pushed her over.
  8. Stop looking for the perfect match…use a lighter.
  9. If the early bird gets the worm, I’ll sleep in until there’s pancakes.
  10. Want to hear a joke about construction? I’m still working on it.

Hahaha, I hope you liked my dumb jokes. Try reading these to your family members and see who gives you the best reaction. Have a great rest of your day! 🙂

The Quarantine Diaries: Day 9

Jordan Wenshau

This is me being responsible and doing my online school. No this was me making my Pinterest board.

Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. Haha, just kidding. I’m Jordan Wenshau, and you’re reading The Quarantine Diaries.

Today is entry #9, and it feels like every other day of quarantine. I’m going bonkers! I want a change so now that my room has been cleaned, I think I’ll rearrange it. There’s not a ton of options for my room though, because I have a big desk built into my back wall. I’ll figure something out.

Today’s challenge is to rearrange your room too! A change of scenery will certainly lift your spirits. If you’re unsure about switching everything up, try creating a Pinterest board of your dream room. That will keep you busy for hours. And, it might help spark some much-needed inspiration. Have fun with it! 🙂

P.S. Here’s the link for my Pinterest board I started! It definitely got me excited to change things up in my room.

Jordan Wenshau

This sticky note is a visual representation of my state of mind right about now.

Welcome! Thank you for attending my mental breakdown. Haha I’m just kidding. I’m okay. I bet I got you though.

So, today is the day that I finally face off with the massive pile of laundry in the corner of my room. It’s been building up since the beginning of quarantine. This will be my last step in cleaning my room. I’ve been dreading it, but it must be done.

Part of me is almost excited to do my laundry though. Maybe I’m going crazy, or maybe I just need a break from my same old routine. Either way, the laundry is going to get done. So if you haven’t already, go destroy the laundry monster in your bedroom too.

I wish you the best of luck. 🙂

The Quarantine Diaries: Day 7

Obviously%2C+it%27s+too+cold+to+go+outside.+But+it%27s+never+too+cold+to+read+a+book.

Jordan Wenshau

Obviously, it's too cold to go outside. But it's never too cold to read a book.

Welcome back! I hope all is well with you today. I for one, am getting sick of Minnesota’s games. One day, it’s sunny and almost 70º and the next, it’s snowing. Make up your mind Minnesota!!

It doesn’t help that one of the only things we can do during quarantine is going on walks, which is impractical in this bipolar climate. At this point, I’m running pretty low on ideas for things to do. I’ve gotten pretty far down my list of 40 things to do during Quarantine.

I think today for the creative challenge, you can go outside and make a snow angel. Nah, I’m kidding but I wouldn’t judge if you did. The real challenge is not super creative, but it’ll feel really good to get done. Clean your room! Organize your closet and drawers. You have all the time in the world right now, so seize the day! Happy cleaning 🙂

Here's all three of my dogs. From left to right, their names are Ryker, Ranger, and Nyx.

What is up, my dudes? Welcome back for installment 6 of the Quarantine Diaries. I’ve been so happy for the grass getting greener and the sun making surprise visits lately. I hope you have had a chance to go outside and enjoy it too.

My freckles have returned too, which to me is a sign of summer. Still, a lot of my time is spent playing with my cat Louis or my dogs Ranger and Ryker. If you don’t have a pet, I suggest you get one. If you have trouble convincing your mom, just show her pictures of puppies and kittens, and she’ll break. It worked for me… twice! It can work for you too.

So today’s creative challenge is to convince your mother to let you have a quarantine pet. Of course, my attempts this time were fruitless, but I’ll still show you the pictures of when we wore her down the other times. 🙂 Good luck, don’t give up!

Here+is+one+of+my+attempts+at+drawing+half+of+a+face.+

Jordan Wenshau

Here is one of my attempts at drawing half of a face.

Howdy reader! Welcome back to the Quarantine Diaries. I know that we are far past day 5 of quarantine, but since online school started this week, I thought now is a better time than ever to keep this little series going.

As I mentioned before, online school began today. It was a little bit weird to see and hear my classmates and teachers on the computer. I already am starting to miss the real-life connections you can make in an actual classroom. The upside of school at home, however, is that I can do my work outside. Today was such a beautiful day because it was 60ºF and sunny. Most of my day was spent basking in the glorious sunshine and drawing. Today’s creative challenge is to draw something. Just put pen to paper and see what you can make, or you could use a random word generator for ideas.

Enjoy your day! 🙂

Jordan Wenshau
Yes, I know it’s not perfect. But that’s the great thing about art!
