Authorities respond to a fatal crash on Highway 61, resulting in 2 dead and 2 injured.

95-year-old Julia Ann Bild of Cottage Grove drove her car southbound down northbound lanes on Highway 61.

Sunday at 8:15 a.m. Bild had a head-on collision with an SUV containing three passengers.

Bild and one of the passengers in the SUV, 32-year-old Tanya Ann Mott, did not make it. The other two in the SUV, the driver, and the other passenger survived and were treated at the Regions Hospital with reportedly non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol determined that those involved in the crash were all wearing their seatbelts.

Many drivers who witnessed the crash had enough courage to pull over on Highway 61 to show their support for the fatal head-on collision. They are advised to use caution and expect traffic delays due to the investigation.
