The Mona Lisa was first stolen in 1911 and has been the victim of many attacks since then.

The iconic Mona Lisa rests under a protective layer of glass at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. That rest was disturbed when a 36 year old man disguised as an elderly woman in a wheelchair threw a piece of cake at the art.  The cake was thrown at the majestic Mona Lisa and the spectators of the event watched as the man is disguise was dragged away chanting “Think of the Earth! There are people who are destroying the Earth! Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That’s why I did this.”

The piece of cake did not hit the actual painting, only the protective glass which was installed after an acid attack in the 1950s. An investigation has been launched to assess any damages to the actual painting.
