The Treausury in St. Paul is one of my favorite venues for music.

Venue: The Treasury in St. Paul

The Treasury is a very small venue in St. Paul that I can’t say I’ve seen many shows at. As far as I know, it was once a bank building, but it was later converted into rentable spaces. The basement level is the venue that I attended. The venue sits in the middle of a small street town, with unique shops and small businesses lining the street on either side. There was free parking available near the venue that I was able to use.

The security was small, being only at the front doors and a person with a metal detector wand right down the stairs. However, this does match the capacity of the building, being roughly 150 people. You don’t really need as much security when you can basically see everybody’s face from the front door. You need to also show an ID and proof of vaccination upon entering in order to see the show, and you will also be provided with a mask if you did not bring one.

With the venue being so small, it is a very personal experience. The proximity of everybody and the artist allows for genuine banter and very real interactions between artist and fan. The crowding was a little overwhelming, as you sort of end up shoulder-to-shoulder with people if you want to squeeze closer to the front. However, this luckily doesn’t take away from the experience whatsoever. There is no coat check at The Treasury, but there was a small table selling canned drinks and water bottles right by the entrance of the basement venue. The table even provided free earplugs in case people needed or wanted them. The merch table is on your immediate left upon entering, while the drink stand is on the right.

I genuinely cannot describe the comfortable atmosphere and cozy nature of this venue. The crowded nature of it adds to the charm if you’re into that kind of thing, and it is just so relaxed and casual you can’t help but feel like you’re at an open mic night rather than an actual concert. Overall, I would highly recommend this venue to anybody that asks, it was so nice to be there.
