The Happy Fits are a indie rock band that recently played at the Fine Line in Minneapolis.

The Happy Fits

I have never been to a concert with a band that is so clearly excited to be there. The Happy Fits seemed to be more excited than the audience was, which is quite a lot.

They have a sort of indie-pop or indie-rock vibe to them. One of their main staples that makes them unique is that the main singer also plays the cello in nearly all of their songs. They were so kind and loved to interact with the audience. You can tell that they were so grateful to be able to have a venue like Fine Line, and they made sure to tell us how much they appreciate the audience during nearly every song break.

It was a very warm and welcoming environment. The audience was so kind, and it was very easy to get a good view due to the incredibly respectful nature of the audience there that night. They played an average length set with a wide variety of both their new and old music. I can confidently say that I never once got bored at this show. When the band needed to take a small water break because good lord they were sweaty, they cracked jokes and told the audience how much they appreciated them.

Their music tends to be fairly fast-paced and not too heavy in nature. My favorite song by them is definitely ‘Get a Job’ (a single, 2020) or ‘Another try’ (off of their album What Could be Better, 2020). They did play both of those songs during the performance, and they sounded just as good in person as they do in their studio recordings. Their upbeat music is sure to get a dance out of you because they all have the most incredible rhythm. I’m not as much of a fan of their slower songs, but that is just out of personal preference, as I do tend to like faster music.

Overall, they have an outstanding lineup and fantastic music. The venue was fantastic, and their merch was plus-size inclusive. The overall atmosphere definitely made up for whatever minor flaws the show had (of which there are so few that I can actually remember). Definitely check them out.
