The Sartell Sabers Wrestling sent three wrestlers to individual state.

The section 8aaa was hosted at Sartell High School Friday, February 25th where senior, wrestlers Spencer Johnson, Ashton Lipinski, and Dylan Enriquez came out on top, getting their state bid for the Sabres.

Johnson, wrestling the 126 weight class got the 2 seed at sections. Spencer was very confident he was going to go state, but was still a little worried.

My plan going into sections was to not worry about the finals, and to take every match 6 minutes at a time.

— Spencer Johnson

Enriquez, who wrestled the 126 weight class also finished up in second, concealing his bid to state. Enriquez hit a lot of big milestones this year including his 100th win. Placing at state would be a great way to finish up his amazing career. When Enriquez secured his State bid he said,

There was so much excitement and relief that all the hard work is paying off.

— Dylan Enriquez

The last of the three, Lipinski, wrestled the 152 weight class and by far had the hardest bracket at sections. With 4 ranked wrestlers in his bracket. Lipinski got the 4 seed in his bracket. He pulled off some big wins and also finished in 2nd to get his state bid. These three are something special as they are childhood best friends and have been wrestling together since they can remember. When Lipinski was asked about being able to share this experience with his best friends he said,

It truly is very amazing, super poetic, it’s going to be lit!

— Ashton Lipinski
