Collecting Jordans can become somewhat of a hobby…maybe more like an obsession.

One of Nike’s bestsellers has been Nike Air Jordans. Nike is one of the largest multinational corporations that sell shoes, clothes, equipment, services, and accessories. Like multiple other people, Nike is one of my favorite brands.

Even though Nike is on the more expensive side for their items, I find Nike one of the most comfortable and well-done brands.

Within Nike, there is a lot of popularity causing it to grow 94% since 2019 as the company as a whole. They have seen sales tremendously grow in ways the company was never expecting in such a short amount of time.

The current shoe that is the best seller for Nike is their Nike Air Force 1’s. According to suffolkgazette.com, the top five selling Nike’s are Air Force 1’s, Nike Blazers, Nike Dunks, Nike Mag, and the Nike Air Max 1.

Like myself, numerous people are into Nike shoes. The term that people are nicknamed is a “SneakerHead.” A SneakerHead is someone that is a sneaker enthusiast who collects and trades sneakers as a hobby but typically understands the history of sneakers.

I am big into sneaker culture and have been for about four years now. Over the past few years, I have accumulated 12 pairs of Jordans. I have two pairs of Nike Dunks, two pairs of Nike Air Max’s, three pairs of Jordan 1’s, two pairs of Nike Blazers, and three different types of Air Force 1’s.

Even though I talk about Nike and Jordan quite frequently, my mom does not understand the culture and ways behind it.

I decided to ask my mom some questions about sneaker culture and get her opinions on me being a SneakerHead and the Jordan community as a whole.

If you’re going to own nice shoes, maybe get a $7 shoe rack from Target as I have.

Q: What is your opinion on all the shoes I own?

A: “There are a lot! The price is ridiculous but I get it – that’s what’s trending now for the cool kids. Someday you’ll look back and say ‘remember when? or what was I thinking?’”

Q: How much do you know about the sneakerhead community?

A: “I just know that it’s REAL. A guy I work with has hundreds of pairs. Crazy.”

Q: How much do you think is too much money for shoes?

A: “I don’t know if there is a ‘too much’ price. I don’t think little kids with growing feet need super expensive ones. I also know it’s a phase and what happens when you’re sick of them? I probably wouldn’t spend over $150 on tennis shoes but would in another type of shoe.”

Q: Would you ever buy and wear a pair of Jordans?

A: “If I loved them I would buy them – also if Kendall would approve and not think I was too old for them.”

Q: What is your favorite Jordan I own?

A: “Whatever matches the outfit you are wearing.”

Even though my mom has mixed opinions on my shoe obsession and sometimes doesn’t understand the general knowledge about shoes, it was fun to see her reactions to it all.

I am extremely happy with the purchases I have made through Nike and cannot for new items to come out.
