Mask mandates being lifted everywhere for fully vaccinated people.

The state of Illinois is no longer requiring fully vaccinated citizens to wear masks under CDC newest guidelines. Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker announced the changes, surprising many of Illinois citizens. Lori Lightfoot, mayor of Chicago, however thinks that the city needs more information before making any changes to the mask mandate. Lightfoot would also like to see more clarification with being sure people who choose not to wear a mask are in fact vaccinated.

Although the mask mandate is lifted for the vaccinated, businesses can still require masks for all, and can even fine citizens who refuse to wear masks up to $2,500.

Illinois will continue to require masks in schools, public transportation, and hospitals while keeping a capacity limit. Lightfoot hope that capacity limits can be lifted by July 4th.
