May 3, 2021
Do you ever find yourself just sitting at home wasting time feeling bored out of your brain? It’s your one free day to do whatever you want and you decide to binge watch a TV show because you can’t think of anything else to do… well, not anymore!
This is a guide to anyone who has a desire to do something more with their time but can’t quite think of what to do.
If you’re an adventurous person who would rather spend your time outside in nature than indoors, here is a list of places that are perfect for experiencing the great outdoors at.
Around the St. Cloud area, we have a few popular hiking spots. The Quarries is a great place to go for a hike because it’s intricate and historic. Beaver Island trial is another great place for a hike or a bike ride. It’s scenic and also a great place for a picnic when you’re done hiking.
Another great place to take a hike at is St. John’s University Chapel Trail. They have a beautifully cleared trail that takes you all the way to a Chapel on the other side of the lake. If you’re someone who is into kayaking, you can kayak around the lake and through the bog as well.
If you’re a sucker for flowers, you need to check out Munsinger Gardens! It’s a paved two level garden that has a wide variety of flowers and plants. Along with the flowers, they have a gift/snack shop where you can grab a bite to eat and some souvenirs throughout your exploration. Right up the river from this garden is a cleared trail that follows alongside the river a few miles. If you end up taking that path and you’re into frisbee golf, there is a huge frisbee golfing course located to the left.
Sometimes it’s best to just go bask in the sun and get a nice tan. A great place for this is Big Lake. This lake is Southeast from St Cloud about 36 miles. It’s a quick 40 minutes drive that is well worth it. This lake has a really nice big beach for
people to lay out their towels on to soak up the sun. It is also set up with a playground and grills with picnic tables for guests to use. Along with Big Lake, Clear Lake is another great place for a day at the lake. Clear Lake is in Clearwater and is a little closer only 21 miles Southeast from St. Cloud.
One more place that is just a perfect adventure outside is Clearwater Kayaking. You can either rent kayaks for about $40 per kayak or bring your own. Their service includes a route in the river of where to go and they will pick you and your kayaks up at the end and drive you back to your cars. It’s a great way to be in the sun, relax, and decompress on the river.
If you’re someone who would rather spend their time indoors, here is a list made just for you with all the hot places around the St. Cloud area.
Thrifting is always a fun options that guarantees you’ll find something unique and perfect for you! Some of the best thrift shops here in town is Savers, Plato’s Closet, Goodwill, and Treasure Chest Thrift.
Shopping is always an option and St Cloud has a great big mall that surrounding cities travel to just to shop at. Crossroads Center is located right in the heart of St. Cloud and has 119 different stores and outlets to choose from. At the mall is also a huge food court with many different types of foods to choose from. All throughout the mall are little concession stands and coffee shops. It’s pretty much impossible to get bored here.
If the food court at the mall caught your eye, you’ll be glad to hear about these amazing local pastry places and bakeries around town. A really popular one is the Dutch Maid bakery located in Sauk Rapids that has a wide variety of doughnuts. Anything you could imagine, they sell and make so deliciously.
