Trying to learn the violin in 5 days

The violin is one of the hardest instruments to learn. I sacrificed my time to try and learn this instrument.

Ever since middle school I’ve been interested in learning to play a string instrument, but I never got the opportunity to do it, until now. Yesterday I was gifted a violin to play with for the week, so I thought this would be an interesting thing to document. I literally know nothing about this instrument except I need to keep it in tune, rosin the bow, and loosen the bow after I’ve finished playing.

The first step to learning this instrument is definitely learning how to hold it properly. I used this video to help me. Next, I learned how to hold the bow properly by using this video.

I have also decided that I will learn the song “Mary Had a Little Lamb” to track my progress. I just decided to play it by ear instead of reading music because that would be faster.

Day 1: Very shaky, pitchy and overall very bad.

Day 2: Pitchy, sad, it was hard to listen to and it had so many mistakes.

Day 3:  This was the worst day for me, it was squeaky slightly pitchy and just not the best, but it could have been worse.

Day 4: This day was just making progress not good but not                                                                                              as bad.

Day 5: squeaky, and sad

In the video above, you will be able to hear my progress over 5 days. Overall, I think if I had more time and patience this could have been better, but I don’t think I will be continuing to learn after these five days. However, it was still a good experience.
