St. Joe offers new ice cream shop
Saint Joseph, Minnesota has many locally-owned small restaurants that serve all sorts of different things.
Jupiter Moon is one of those special businesses!
Jupiter Moon Ice Cream is owned by David Boyer and opened on May 18, 2019. It first started as an ice cream bike.
On October 23, 2020, the Jupiter Moon Ice Cream Shop opened. Boyer wanted to open up an ice cream shop because he loves ice cream.
Boyer said, “It’s not just because it is a tasty treat but because ice cream brings people together, almost always in celebration.”
They always have 20 flavors in the dipping cabinets, so there are always fun flavors to choose from.
“Creating an inclusive, welcoming space where joy and celebration were first and foremost is for Jupiter Moon. We wanted to create an icon for central Minnesota. A place where dates happen, big wins are celebrated, summer nights savored, and smiles all around. That is why David opened Jupiter Moon and He thinks they have done exactly that.”
Boyer’s favorite flavor of ice cream would be Lemon Poppyseed.
His proudest moment of the business would be, “November 2020 when we had a warm spell and it was short-sleeve weather for a few days. During those days the community came, ordered ice cream, and congregated outside. Jupiter Moon in those brief sunshine days like an asset to the community, not just another business.”
That makes David proud, and “He can’t wait for warm summer nights where Jupiter Moon becomes integral to the social fabric of St. Joseph.”
Currently, the flavors that are in the cabinets currently are Apple Cider, Espresso Coffee, Banana Foster, Cherry Cheesecake, Cookies ‘N Creme, Kahula & Cream, Lemon Poppy Seed, Mint Chip, O’Canada, Orange Dream Cycle, Salted Caramel w/ Truffles, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Stellar Strawberry, Vanilla Bean, Matcha, and Minnesota Cosmic Twilight. the non-dairy/ vegan options are Vannila Cardamon with Blueberries, Choco-Coconut, Pina colada, key lime, and Spicy Mango Coconut.
