2021 Sabre Swim and Dive is off to a great start

The Sartell Sabres Boys Swim & Dive have a lot of great things to look forward to in the early season and more to come.

The Sabres are 2-0 to start the season. The success of the team comes from high-level competitors and from excellent coaching staff.

When asked about how this year’s team compares to last year’s 3rd Place team at State Coach Anderson said “The book has not been written about how this team compares to last year’s team yet.  On paper, it would be a really good match up.  We lost some big talent and points with Cooper, Brannon, and Quincy graduating.”

This happens every year though with graduating seniors, and it is how the team can bounce back and improve.

Anderson was talked about some of the strengths and weaknesses of the team.  He said, “Our current seniors are now a little faster than last year, and we have some events like the 200 and 500 where points-wise we might be slightly weaker than last year, but other events like the Breastroke and diving should be stronger.  Our free relays look to be stellar this season too.”

This will be a key part to winning meets in the months to come. Also, an intregal part of the Sabres’ many winning seasons in the past decades is how they don’t rebuild, they reload.

When asked about the kids coming up from the middle school, Coach Anderson replied, “We have some young kids like Hayden, Lucas, and Jackson that will develop by the end of the year into competitive varsity swimmers.”

This will be very important because they offer depth and more points for the team on relays and individual events.  Anderson added, “I vote we rearrange as many record boards as possible all year long.”
