St. Paul, MN has had a record number of homicides in 2020.

On December 21, 2020 officers were called to the 300 block of Larpentuar Ave East at approximately 7 pm due to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, a man was found shot at an ARCO gas station. The man later died on the scene.

Saint Paul Police are not sure if the man was shot at the gas station or if he was even shot in the car.

The Minneapolis SWAT team then raided a house approximately one mile down Larpentuar Ave where a possible suspect was located. The SWAT team found no one inside the residence.

In a WCCO news article, they reported that police stated, “This is the deadliest year in at least a quarter-century and they are one homicide away from breaking the record.”
