Life of Brian was released in April of 1979. It was praised by critics upon its release

A few nights ago, I was lying in bed and I thought to myself, “I feel like watching a funny movie.”

So, I went to Netflix and began my search for a comedy that would satisfy that urge. The movie that I ended up watching was Monty Python’s The Life of Brian. Now, I just want to clarify, I thought Monty Python and the Holy Grail was one of the worst comedies I’ve seen. I honestly thought that it was quite bland, with only a few quotable moments. To me, Life of Brian surpassed its predecessor 1,000,000,000 times over. I have not laughed this hard at a movie in a very, very long time.

The jokes were perfectly timed with an array of visual comedy to add to the absurdity of this religious satire. My only strife with the movie was its ending. It is considered to be one of the most controversial movie endings of all time, and I completely understand why. In all honesty, I just didn’t find it funny, and I can see how many people would find it offensive.

In the end, I would give Life of Brian an 8/10, which just so happens to match the IMDb rating of 8.1/10. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie received a 95% critics score and 93% from audiences. If you decide to watch this film and are anything like me, then I wish you luck because there is a good chance you will be laughing so hard that you almost pass out.
