On Wednesday, September 18th America’s Got Talent finished off their season awarding blind and autistic singer Kodi Lee $1 million.
Born in Lake Elsinore, California, Kodi was diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia which resulted in him in becoming legally blind. A few years later, he was diagnosed with autism.
When Kodi Lee first auditioned the judges were so blown away by his amazing singing and piano skills that they decided to press the golden buzzer (which sends him automatically to the finals).
Kodi finds peace and happiness in playing the piano and singing as it is one of the easier ways for him to communicate.
Many fans and media say that Kodi is an inspiration for everyone diagnosed with autism. He sends the message that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. Judge Simon Cowell who is known to be brutally honest, stated that Kodi’s voice was “One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever, ever heard.”
