Six people get shot in another mass shooting in Washington D.C.

A total of six people were shot leaving five injured and one dead in Washington D.C. as of September 19, 2019. 

The five people who were shot are suffering in a range of intensity based on their body wounds. They were all taken to hospitals in the area where they were treated. 

Residents in the area near the shooting report that they heard what sounded like rapid gunfire, leaving multiple shell casings at the scene.  A motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Police are trying to figure out if nearby shootings are all linked.

There has been a calculated average of 1.1 mass shootings a day in the year of 2019 so far. That puts the U.S. at 297 total mass shootings within 263 days this year.
