On Monday March 19th, the Minnesota House voted 106-21 for a bill that bans people from using hand held phones while driving. The “hands-free” law will go into effect on August 1st for all Minnesotan drivers.

The rule specifically states that you can not have a cellular device in your hand while you are driving. “One-touch functions” will still be allowed if the phone is accessed without holding it, typing, or scrolling.

With that being said, you will need to something to hold your phone so you can tap, and not type. If you are looking to spend an ridiculous amount of money to comply by the law, buy a new vehicle equipped with bluetooth. But instead of spending that utterly absurred amount of money, there are alternatives such as magnetic car mounts.

The bill’s chief House sponsor, Rep. Frank Hornstein states, “We know this bill saves lives. In the 16 other states and District of Columbia where this bill has been enacted there’s been an average of a 16 percent drop in fatalities.”

Click here to read shocking statistics that will make you think twice about grabbing your phone behind the wheel.
