Today, April 22, 2019, is Earth Day. However, every day should be “Earth Day.” The endangerment of critical species such as bees, coral reefs, and whales may ultimately lead to the end of the Earth.

Bees are part of the critical endangered species that this year’s Earth Day Campaign is focused on.

This year’s Earth Day campaign is Protect our Species. Specifically, the Earth Day Network is asking people to advocate for the species by following these steps:

  1. Educate and raise awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of millions of species and the causes and consequences of this phenomenon.

  2. Achieve major policy victories that protect broad groups of species as well as individual species and their habitats.

  3. Build and activate a global movement that embraces nature and its values.

  4. Encourage individual actions such as adopting plant based diet and stopping pesticide and herbicide use.

Additionally, The Earth Day Network is urging collaboration to deter the extinction of critical species. The site stated that “threatened and endangered species can still recover if we work together now to build a united global movement of consumers, voters, educators, faith leaders, and scientists to demand immediate action.
