Sabre swimmers celebrate spectacular season

After a triumphant season, the Swimming Sabers met together in the Courtyard Marriott to commemorate their accomplishments.

The night began with a catered dinner, which the swimmers devoured. During the meal, Bob Bridges filled the banquet hall with an amazing acoustic performance. After everyone had finished their pasta Head Coach Mr. Anderson took center stage.

First, he called up each grade, starting with the middle schoolers. He listed the star qualities of every swimmer and then gave them their varsity letter if they earned it. Coach then moved onto different awards, these included State plaques, CLC Scholar Athlete Honor Roll, and Most Valuable Swimmer.

After that next year’s captains were announced, Brannon Bjork and Cooper Larson. The parents of the last captains were also given gifts from the parents of the rest of the swim team.

At one point the seniors were called up to give some advice to the younger swimmers. None of them were prepared for this speech, but they all improvised and shared some of their upper-class man wisdom.

The banquet concluded with a movie produced by the captains. The movie featured an original song from Bob Bridges and a slideshow of pictures. It also had an “interview” with the captains and short clips from great swimmer from the past. The videos were full of advice and motivation from great past swimmers like Spencer Sathre, Dylan Plemel, and Ian Lawson.

Overall, the banquet was a great last hurrah for the seniors after a wonderful season. Although the team didn’t go undefeated this year the season was filled with many other great feats. Hopefully, the Swimming Sabres will continue to dominate the pool and celebrate those victories at future banquets.
