On Tuesday, November 6th, Fouqette Auto located on Riverside Avenue South Sartell, MN burst into flames after a series of unfortunate events occurred.

The fire began around 10:15 a.m. when the owner was working on a customer’s fuel tank and some gas spilled onto the floor. Soon after the gas had spilled, the shop boiler turned on and a spark ignited the spilled gas. The flame engulfed the shop floor and soon after, one of the shop doors blew off due to the fire. Only the owner was inside the building at the time of the fire and he sustained no injuries.

I was able to speak with Devin Fouqette, son of the owner of Foquette Auto, about the unfortunate event that has greatly affected his family’s business. Devin described the inside of the shop as a charcoal black layer covering everything inside. Devin’s racecar was inside during the accident, and his car’s engine was completely melted and the chassis was almost completely melted after the fire.

The engine is melted and the chassis may also be completely melted.”

— Devin Fouqette

The St. Cloud Hazmat Department was sent out after the fire to help with containment of around 550 gallons of oil that had drained into the Mississippi. It is estimated that there was around $450,000 worth of damage to Fouqette Auto’s shop.
