Snow, snow, snowmobiling!

There is finally enough snow for everyone to enjoy one of Minnesota’s favorite pastimes: snowmobiling. Minnesota has a rich tradition of snowmobiling, but the last few years have been disappointing for many enthusiasts. The two big doses of snow recently have packed the trails thick enough for everyone to enjoy.

For the past few years, most of Minnesota hasn’t had the necessary snow to rip around on the public trails. Most of the state’s snowmobiling tourism has occurred in the arrowhead (the top right point of MN) where more snow is present. Another issue that has occurred is the snow arriving too late. Most public trails close at the end of the February.

This sport can be very expensive to try or get started with. If you are interested in trying snowmobiling, some outfitters and dealerships will rent snowmobiles for the day. If you are interested, most of these locations are advertised on the Minnesota Snowmobiling Association’s website. This website is linked below. This is a good way to at least get a taste of one of Minnesota’s favorite winter pastimes!
