Iowa State PG purposefully misses free-throw at Sunday game

March 1, 2018

Iowa State sophomore point guard Jordan Bohannon purposefully missed a free throw during Sunday’s game against their opponent Northwestern.

When the Iowa State Hawkeyes were winning by only 8 points with two minutes to go, sophomore Jordan Bohannon made the decision to miss his free-throw in order to preserve the free-throw record of a former Hawkeye that died in a car crash. If he had made the shot, it would have been Bohannon’s 35th consecutive free throw made, and he would have surpassed the record of Chris Street. Chris Street died in a car crash in 1993 while his free throw streak was on-going.

Following shortly after the missed free throw, Jordan Bohannon pointed his finger up to the sky in honor of former player Chris Street.

That’s not my record to have. That record deserves to stay in his name.”

— Jordan Bohannan
