The rules of the Sartell High School parking lot are very complicated for new drivers and may take a long time to learn.  The best way to learn is through experience some say, but nobody wants to have a bad experience driving.  That is why it is very important to learn the rules of the road at Sartell High School.

1. It is not the every other at the turn by Holiday (Pinecone and 7th street)

When driving to school, many parents, and students think that when turning onto 7th street coming from south Pinecone (City Hall), think that it is okay to let parents and students coming from Pinecone north (Blackberry) after every other car. Although this may come off as polite it is not okay and makes even more people late for school.

2.  The ramp to get out of the school is two lanes, not one

When leaving the school, the exit road is two lanes, not one.  If you are leaving taking a right turn, please use the right lane.  If you are taking a left turn or going straight, you need to use the left lane.

3. If it is not your spot, you cannot park there

Many students become confused when their spot is taken when they get to school.  Just because your spot is taken does not mean you can take someone else’s spot. Park in visitor parking and go into the office to report someone is in your spot.

4. Drive the right way not the wrong way

When maneuvering through the parking lot, you should be looking at the passenger door behind the driver’s door of others cars, not the other side.  If you drive the wrong way in the parking lot you may hit someone else.

5. Don’t park over the line

When you park for the day, be sure to park in between the two lines not over to either side because that causes the cars next to you to park over the line, and that screws up the entire parking lot.
