On November 20th, 2017, almost one thousand volunteers spent six hours packaging meals for the fifth annual We are Thankful event.

Kids Fighting Hunger organized this annual event. This year 140,000 meals were packaged. There were 72,000 rice meals packaged: 52,000 rice meals went to hurricane relief and 20,000 rice meals went to local Minnesota food shelves. There were also 74,000 oatmeal meals packaged. The meals will go to all the local food shelves in Minnesota.

The Sartell boys swim team was a part of the food packaging. Chris Campbell, the boys swim team assistant coach, and his  family joined the swim team in lending a hand.
