Yet another year goes by and Sartell’s slang language is as popular as ever. So, to cover it all, I will be continuing this beloved ongoing “Slang of SHS” featured article. As a new student or a freshman at Sartell High School, you might be a little flustered with all of the crazy language you’re hearing, which is why I’m here to help you out.

Be sure to check out this article as often as you can and to search for more “Slang of SHS” articles in the future, so you can keep up. 

To start off this first edition, let’s cover some of this school year’s basics.

After just one quarter of the school year being completed, we have lots of new slang in our atmosphere and some of it can be so difficult to understand.

Huge

“hyooj” – adjective

  1. useful to describe something of great importance 

Synonyms

  1. excitement
  2. clutch
  3. even shock

Examples

  1. “Whoa man, that free sub I got a Jimmy Johns- that was huge.”
  2. “Oh my goodness! The W Sartell took home from Apollo- HUGE!”

Shook

“shuuk” – verb and adjective

  1. (v) the past tense of ‘shake’, meaning to have the emotion of ‘shook-ness’
  2. (adj) used to describe a feeling of large astonishment

Synonyms

  1. shocked
  2. astounded
  3. confused

Examples

  1. “And then…she kissed him! I was so shook.”
  2. “They are unbelievable; they have me shook.”
