Last Thursday, Sartell girls’ swimming dominated the pool once again. Facing Sauk Rapids in the Sartell home pool the girls showed once again that they are unrivaled with a final score of 112 to 70. Some highlights of the meet were the 200 freestyle, 100 breast, and 200 free relay. In the 200 freestyle, Maddie Hedlund beat Abbie Tangen from Sauk for first by nearly three whole seconds. In an impressive 100 breast, Darah Coleman dropped 1.46 seconds and finished first. Sartell’s A and B relays did amazing in the 200 free relay, the A relay capturing first with a time of 1:46.07. The A relay team consisted of Madelynn Hedlund, Lauryn Kramer, Kristin Martens, and Darah Coleman as the anchor. Diving went pretty fantastic for the Sabres as well. Divers for this meet included Emma Boenish, Jenna Merrills, Abby Weber, Jessica Lemke, Hailey Westrup, and Morgan Weber.

If you’ve never been to a swim meet, I would highly recommend trying it. The energy is palpable in that pool seating. People cheer like it’s a high school homecoming. The team spirit shared by those swimmers isn’t comparable to any other sport. Teammates huddle at the ends of lanes every race and cheer until they lose their voices. I may be slightly biased, but you’ll just have to go to a meet to know what I’m talking about.
