About The Band

Treaty Oak Revival is a country rock band from Odessa, Texas. They started in 2018 as a cover band with no desire to write their own music. Early on, the group would come together and practice their music in the back of a vacuum shop. Lead singer Sam Canty was working a job at a gas plant and would meet up with the band and jam to escape. Their first single dropped in 2020 and first album followed a year later in 2021. The band has five members: Sam Canty (vocals), Jeremiah and Lance Vanley (electric guitar), Cody Holloway (drums), Kelly McVay (drums, guitar)

About the Album

Have a Nice Day is Treaty Oak Revival’s second studio album and was released November 24th, 2023. This album has 10 songs and boosted the band’s popularity exponentially. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at the 174 spot. Three of the ten songs have been certified gold by the RIAA.

1. Stop & Stare

8/10

Good song with a good beat. The song tells a story about looking at a girl with green eyes and black hair. He talks about his struggles and her disinterest in him but he still wants the girl.

2. In Between

7/10

This song is more vulgar but also has a good beat and is a very enjoyable listen. This song also talks about a girl and how she is not pulling her weight in a relationship. He sings about trying to leave the relationship but still getting caught up “In Between” her drama.

3. Wrong Place Wrong Time

9/10

In this song, the band sings about no matter what they do they always find themselves in trouble. He sings about not having anyone to talk to and smoking cigarettes being his close alternative. No matter what he does he can’t escape his past and trouble will always find them.

4. Have A Nice Day

6/10

For being the title of the album, this song does not get all of the love that other songs get. Canty sings about wanting to leave a girl in the past and not wanting to see her again. He then later sings about not being able to get back the time he lost while being with her.

5. I’m The Worst

6.5/10

Canty and the band talk about blaming themselves for everything and people not being able to find the good in them. It seems like the song is directed towards a girl who is searching for red flags in him. This song feels a little more rock based with a lot of electric guitar but still with a southern vibe as well.

6. See You in Court

8.5/10

This song is often played as the encore for their concerts and sings about the battle of child custody and divorce between two parents. It is directed from the father’s perspective who may be losing the case because of financial situations. Later in the song, it seems as if he has gained confidence in the case. Another great listen that turns out to be even better live.

7. Fishnets

9/10

This is yet another song out of this album that is somewhat vulgar. It talks about the perspective of a married man and a prostitute and how the man is ruining his relationship and how the prostitute wishes she had never gone down that road. It is a very well told story within the song and has a great beat and tone.

8. Close Encounters

7/10

This is easily one of the least listened to songs on this album, but I think it is very underrated. It sings obviously about close encounters and getting in trouble but more about listening to your dad and God when they tell you to steer clear of trouble.

9. Haunted House

5/10

Another underrated song that does not get many listens compared to the top songs on this album. Canty sings about trying to get a girl to leave and how it feels like he is living in a haunted house where the person he wants gone won’t disappear.

10. Chasing My Tail

8.5/10

This song comes out early with a much slower tone and beat. Canty sings about the end of a relationship and not being able to get over what he had done wrong. He sings about his issues in this relationship and how he mentally torments himself over mistakes.

This album is widely surrounded around a relationship between presumably someone in the group and another girl. They sing mostly about their struggles and hardships as it is rare to find them sing about good in this album. Canty and the group do a great job complimenting each other in different ways. The background vocals are also a great way to hear a different voice during songs. This album often gets more positive reviews than their other and boosted their popularity immensely.
