Hillary Clinton: a ‘Hill’ yes or ‘Hill’ no?

She’s beauty. She’s grace. She’s the possible President of the United States.

Hillary Clinton has held the leading spot in the Democratic polls since day 1, and despite strong competition from Senator Bernie Sanders, she has continued to do so. Clinton currently holds 48.3% of support from polled Democratic voters according to USA Today. Sanders has been gaining percentages since mid-December, but still lags with 39.7% support.

Like Sanders, Hillary connects with many younger voters on the issues. She is pro-choice, wants to improve economic possibilities for lower and middle class families, considers herself a feminist, supports the Black Lives Matter movement and policing reform, and stringently supports education reform.

Hillary has recently begun an attack on Bernie Sanders as his campaign continues to gain in the polls. Until now, Clinton has avoided mentioning or talking about rival Sanders, and her new barrage against her rival has certainly had an effect. Since Clinton’s coordinated attacks began, Bernie Sander’s campaign has received more attention, and subsequently, more money. Sander’s campaign has reported receiving four times of the average daily contributions per day.

For the first time in the race so far, Clinton doesn’t appear to be a shoe-in for the nomination. With Sanders within nine poll points nationally, Clinton needs to focus more on her own campaign and less on his. According to the Des Moines Register, Clinton has fallen back to a narrow 2-point lead in Iowa; however, it is worth noting that the poll’s margin of error is ±4.4 percentage points.

With the Iowa caucus coming up on January 31st, it has been increasingly unclear which Democrat will win the swing state.
