This past weekend, the Central Lakes Conference held their third and final dance competition at Brainerd High School to determine the overall conference champions.

This meet had been rescheduled after a weather cancellation back in January.

Scores going into this final competition showed St. Cloud Tech and Brainerd, two AAA schools, tied for the first place spot with a score of 32, and Sartell, who competes in the AA division, following close behind with 30 points from the previous two meets.

In order for Sartell to take the overall conference championship, they would have to sweep the final kick and jazz competitions in order to surpass their AAA counterparts.

That’s just what they did.

All-conference and honorable mention dancers

After strong performances from both Tech and Brainerd, Sartell finished first in both kick and jazz, with scores of 558 and 594, respectively. Both scores were out of 700.

All-conference and honorable mention dancers were also announced at this meet. In high kick they included dancers Macy Senn, Haven Licht, Rachel Ruff, Alyssa Brix, Sloan Schwarzentraub, Morgan Anderson, Holly Greer, and Bethany Beirscheid. In Jazz, Alyssa Brix, Sloan Schwarzentraub, Macy Senn, Alayna Runge, and Reese Schwarzentraub were named.

The Sartell Sabre Dance Team will compete at their section competition on February 4th. The top three at that meet will earn a ticket to the state tournament that will take place on February 17th and 18th.
