An extremely lewd and vulgar interview tape surfaced Friday the seventh of October, catching Donald Trump commenting on women as well as admitting to several sexually predatory actions and comments.

The video comes just one month before the election, leaving voters to wonder how the GOP nominee will recuperate in time to gain back his portion of the vote and if that is even possible, there have also been several calls for Trump to withdraw from the race. Trump responded by saying “I have never withdrawn from anything.”

I am sickened by what I heard today. Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified. I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests.””

— Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan

The video recorded in 2005 and now over a decade old, catches the GOP candidate admitting freely on a “Hot Mic” hosted by Billy Bush, that he had tried “heavily” to seduce a married woman. He says that he knew she was married and he tried seducing her by furniture shopping.  Later in the video, Trump reflects on how the woman’s looks had changed since the encounter saying “All of a sudden I saw her and she has the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”

There is later a break in the interview when it becomes obvious that the men in the vehicle have spotted a woman they clearly find attractive. Listeners can hear the Presidential nominee pull out a pack of Tic-Tacs and say “I better use some Tic-Tacs in case I start kissing her. I’m automatically attracted to beautiful [women]- it’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.” Trump continued in elaborating on how women let men do anything to them when they’re famous. “I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. They let you do anything.” The attention then shifts back to the woman as they start evaluating her physical features (i.e. her legs and butt).

As the father of three daughters, I strongly believe that Trump needs to apologize directly to women and girls, and take full responsibility for the utter lack of respect for women shown in his comments on that tape.””

— Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell

Trump’s running mate for the 2016 election, Mike Pence, says he is “offended by Trump’s comments and will continue to pray for the rest of the Trump family during this difficult time.” The candidate is facing a tremendous amount of backlash from the entirety of the Republican party in what is being portrayed as a total abandonment of the candidate. Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, and Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell released individual statements denouncing the nominee. Ryan continued his protest of the party’s nominee by disinviting him from his Republican event in Wisconsin this past Saturday.

Trump then issued a statement on Sunday, claiming that he has said and done things that he regrets and that the words on the tape are one of them. Trump stated in his video statement “I have never said that I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things that I regret.”  Trump also says that “anyone who knows him, knows these words don’t reflect who he is.” He elaborates on how his travels around the country, visiting grieving mothers has changed him, and that his views regarding change for America still reign true.

He has supposedly been humbled by the faith his supporters have placed in him, and that he will pledge to be a better man tomorrow than he was yesterday.

Recently, Hillary Clinton has been gaining momentum over Trump in swing states such as North Carolina, Iowa, and Florida. Mr. Trump has been continuously controversial throughout the duration of his year-long campaign, and though he claims his support is as strong as ever, there is no telling how drastically his favorability may change on this homestretch towards the white house.
