The boys’ soccer team was in Apollo on Tuesday night as many fans filed in for a highly anticipated game.

The Sartell Boys’ Soccer team (3-4) took on the Apollo Eagles (4-5) at Michie Field under the lights. The Apollo Eagles struck first with an early goal scored by a forward who got a deflection and put it in. The rest of the first half was all defense as there were no more goals scored. A lot of defense was also played during the second half until Parker Beumer netted a penalty kick with five minutes left to draw even at 1-1. The game then went to an intense overtime period where once again a lot of defense was played. With about 30 seconds left in overtime, Apollo scored on a strong counter attack to win the game.

The Sabres played hard and are very excited for the rest of the season. They play again on Thursday against Rocori and then at Moorhead on Saturday. Right now the Sabres sit at 4th place in the central lakes conference behind Tech, Willmar, and Apollo.
