Paramount Theatre & Visual Arts Center is hosting the 36th Annual High School Art Exhibition and Competition this April for Central Minnesota high school students.

Students’ art from Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, Morrison, and Wright county schools will be on exhibit March 22nd through April 18th at the Paramount Theatre. Each school from the various counties in the area was allowed to enter up to 15 pieces of art made this year from different students. The various pieces of art have to be less than 20 pounds, no more than 30 inches in width, and fall under at least one category from the following:

  • Drawing (pencil, colored pencil, pastel, charcoal, marker, etc.)
  • Sculpture (hand built non-functional clay, paper mache, wire, wood, metal, etc.)
  • Jewelry
  • Painting – Acrylic/Oil
  • Painting – Watercolor
  • Ceramics (functional, wheel-thrown or hand-built)
  • Photography
  • 2D Design

On Monday, April 18th, there will be a reception and award ceremony that is open to the public at 6 pm until 8pm. Available awards include Best of Show ($300), the Ellingston Award ($200), which is given to a senior girl, and each category has first place ($50), second place ($25), and third place ($15) winners.
